The Heavenly Kabah: Bayt al-Mam’ur

Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, “Then I was shown Bayt al-Ma’mur. I asked Jibreel about it and he said, This is Bayt al-Ma’mur where 70,000 angels perform prayers daily and when they leave they never return to it (but always a fresh batch comes into it daily).”

Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih al-Muslim

Bayt al-Ma’mur, also called the “Frequent House,” is an exact replica of the Kabah outside the realms of human existence. It is located directly above the Kabah in the seventh heaven. Directly above the Bayt al-Ma’mur is the throne of Allah (swt). Allah (swt) also mentions Bayt al-Ma’mur in Surah at-Tur. He (swt) says,

“And by the Bayt al-Ma’mur (the house over the heavens identical to the Kabah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels)”

Surah at-Tur, Ayah 4

Amazingly, just as we perform tawaf around the Kabah on Earth, the angels are making continuous tawaf as well around the Bayt al-Ma’mur. 70,000 angels perform tawaf in Bayt al-Ma’mur every single day. It is welcomed by a fresh batch of 70,000 angels every day, which in itself provides a perspective into how large the angel’s population is in comparison to the human population. Such is the greatness of the Almighty (swt). And Allah (swt) knows best.
